Excelsior Medical IPA, PLLC (EMIPA) is an association of physicians in private practice, who are committed to the delivery of high quality and cost-effective primary care and specialty care throughout the Metropolitan New York region.
The members of Excelsior Medical IPA have the expertise to address the needs of diverse communities, a belief in the ability of physician-directed care management to improve the quality of care, and an interest in collaborating with institutions who share these views.
EMIPA was founded in 2002 by primary care providers in Queens and Brooklyn who believed that the changes happening in medical practice had to be addressed proactively and as a group. From our original 7 members and 9 medical practices, EMIPA has now 291 physician-members, who work in 376 medical practices spread throughout the five boroughs of New York City, and the counties of Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester. EMIPA physicians care for more than 108,000 patients’ lives.
Our 195 primary-care providers (PCPs) and 95 specialists practice 38 different medical specialties and are affiliated with 41 hospitals in the New York metropolitan area. Our select group of physicians-members hail from 27 different countries and speak 37 different languages, making EMIPA the most diverse group of medical providers in New York, bar none. This makes our physicians especially qualified and exquisitely adept at caring for the multicultural, multiethnic, and multinational population that makes New York the melting pot that it is.
