Community-based physicians, who know first-hand the challenges and rewards of private practice, are frustrated by the present and apprehensive about the future of their profession, mostly because of the increasingly complex and rapidly changing requirements and regulations of medical practice.
EMIPA has successfully negotiated, on behalf of its members, advantageous contracts with Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs) who share our dedication to high quality medical care. These contracts provide improved reimbursement rates and participation in Surplus Sharing and Quality Improvement bonuses not available to individual physician contracts. Contract participation is not mandatory: members are free to pick and choose none, some or all of our group contracts.
We perform delegated credentialing of our provider members on behalf of the HMOs, which simplifies and shortens the process. Our providers don’t have to fill up multiple applications and credentialing forms, therefore reducing the paperwork that takes so much of a physician’s valuable time. We also serve as liaison between our members and the HMOs, easing and speeding the resolution of issues, and streamlining communication with the insurers.
EMIPA offers the HMOs access to a large group of diverse providers. We facilitate coordination and dissemination of the HMOs initiatives and programs among our members, ease their communication with our providers, and serve as a single access point for reporting and resolving issues and complaints.
As a physician association our target audience, and our sole concern, are physicians and physician’s practices. Members retain total control of their patient rosters, practice management and professional autonomy, but they gain our advocacy, support, consultancy, and group negotiating leverage.
